Parents World

parentsworld

It is alot of fun doing shoots and shows with Dan. For one, I know he will always oblige my ‘good side’ (I’ve been told long ago that I’m a ‘right sider’, ie: my right side photographs better =p) in shoots. In shows (usually hosting gigs), he will cover my back And oblige my good side. So nice right?

I didn’t even include the above when they asked why we are good partners but we did share alot more other reasons – get your copy of Parents World if you wanna know what else we shared! (I know, shameless plugging!)

The shoot was alot of fun, thanks to The Editor Daniel Goh (middle), Make Up Artiste Agnes (right) and her assistant Shosita (left). Thanks guys!!

The Photographer Todd Beltz tried some fun shots after the real work was done and posted it on his website . He even took extras of Renee =)  Here’s one of my fav :

The Starhub Saga (Part 2)

After a week of waiting for Starhub’s none callback, I was rather disappointed and tweeted this :

“Will have to take back what I said about @Starhubcares. No followup in a week after saying u would is not very caring”

That got an immediate response:

“Hi Jaime, our CSO tried to reach you on your mobile a couple of times to no avail. They then emailed you on 6 Nov 12.42pm & we DM-ed on the 10th to followup but didn’t hear back. Could we trouble you to check your junk/spam filter just in case? Thanks :)

(Every starhub customer would be satisfied if the ppl manning starhub’s twitter also manned their general enquiries line =p)

Well I didn’t receive ANY of the above. The DM wasn’t received cos one cannot receive DMs from ppl they aren’t following… The rest… erm..

A Howard from Starhub called yesterday evening and clarified that they did call on the 6th, and we aren’t sure what happened with the email. Then he politely explained that babytv is bundled with Kids channel because the majority of their customers prefers it that way. He also said he will send my feedback to Starhub for review.

So there peeps, is the conclusion to my question on their policy – It was a majority vote.

I really would’ve understood that in a tweet(less than 140words somemore) instead of all this back and forth but thank you anyway Starhub for taking the time to contact me.

The Starhub Saga (Part 1)

A few days ago, I decided to subscribe to BabyTV because I needed something to keep Renee distracted for short periods thought it sounded like something Renee might like.

The husband told me to subscribe to the Kids Channel and so I did. The Starhub operator said it’ll cost me $4 a month.

Twelve hours later, I got many kids channel and no babytv. So I called Starhub again to say that I’d like to subscribe to babytv. The operator said it is a standalone channel and it’ll cost me $4 a month. Hm.. $4 a month for many kids channel and $4 a month for one babytv. I abandoned the ‘better deal’ mentality and decided to just get what I needed(ie: babytv). The starhub operator said ok.

Twenty-four hours later, still no babytv.

I called Starhub back and was told that I needed to subscribe to the Kids Channel, THEN upgrade it to get babytv and no, I cannot subscribe to just babytv. I figured I could try it out for a month – if Renee doesn’t like it, there’s still the option of educational DVDs, right?

Then I sent this out on twitter:

“So let me get this right StarHub, I HAVE to subscribe 2 Kids channel, u/g it, THEN I get babytv even tho my child is a baby b4 she’s a kid?”

Helpful tweeps(you know who you are – Thanks!!) pointed me to @Starhubcares who replied within half an hour with this :

“@kelvinlau76 Thanks for pointing it out to us. @jmeteo Please DM us your name/IC/address/mobile so that we can contact you personally. Thx!.”

I was quite impressed with the quick response! I didn’t want to send sensitive info over DM because it isn’t secure (you know this, right?) and only left my number. They again, quickly responded with this:

@jmeteo In that case, please leave a note at http://bit.ly/StarHubCaresTab and we will contact you personally :)

(That got a “Aw…. Starhub cares!” from me but tweeps tell me it’s cos I’m a celebrity since they have been waiting forever for Starhub to reply to their queries =P)

Anyhow, I happily clicked on that link which brought me to their Facebook page. Hm.. FB. My old nemesis. I logged in with Dan’s account and was told that I needed to be a fan of Starhub to continue.

Very sneaky clever, Starhub.

So I clicked on the Like button and only then did I manage to leave my details.

Let’s see when I’ll get a callback.

Seen In My Paper =)

I forgot to mention that the bags you see in the article are from Bric’s! They are roomy enough for me to carry Everything I need when I’m out with Renee, Plus still look stylish. *thumbs up*

I also would like to mention that I’m not advertising for the iPhone in the picture on the right (I think I look rather bleah in it). It was supposed to showcase how the iPhone is vital for me to capture memories of Renee and of course her cute mug is my wallpaper. Here’s a clearer picture of the wallpaper in that pic :

Cat Welfare Society

It’s been some time since I’ve updated anything here and I have to blame my laziness (although trust me, I was really tempted to use the pregnancy card hurhur ok ok, Kidding!)

Coupla months back, the good people at Cat Welfare Society wrote Fly to ask if we’d be interested to lend our faces to their print campaign which aims to raise awareness about the Society’s works and also to promote responsible pet ownership amongst the locals, especially those who are living in high-rise apartments.

Dan and I thought it a worthy cause cos we have a soft spot for felines – why else would we have three at home, right? :)

So late Sunday morning, we took a drive out to Dempsey where the shoot was held and posed with cats that weren’t ours cos our house cats would freak out if we brought them anywhere.

Cat Welfare Society Shoot

Many people think that stray cats bite or scratch or are mean, but these cats are as tame as our housecats! They let us carry them like babies and came up to our legs and purred when we weren’t carrying them. It’s heartbreaking seeing the cats with burns or scars caused by some cat hater/cruel person who decide to hurt a hapless creature for their own gratification. *sigh* I guess while we cannot save Every cat, every cat saved is one less for the mean people to hurt.

So seriously, consider adopting a pet instead of buying a new one because they appreciate and need a home more. More information on the Cat Welfare Society here. Am leaving you with one of Damy - one very feisty tomcat :

Beauty Tips to share

Earlier today, by the kind invitation of Lancaster, I was on the beauty panel discussion with Diana Ser(the charming and beautiful mother of 2), Dr JJ Chua (celebrity plastic surgeon) and Michelle Ong(Lancaster senior training manager).

We were discussing/sharing beauty tips, concerns, and generally anything to do with how to age more beautifully :P Alot of ground was covered so in order for this post to not become a book, just let me quickly put down the points I remembered.

- Sunblock is a MUST. If you don’t use it diligently, start doing so and get the entire family in on it (Even the toddlers!)
- When do you start using anti-ageing products?  When you can afford it. (That really was the answer!)
- To maintain youthfulness, #1 would be a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise), #2 would be your skincare regime and #3 to #200 would be the variety of cosmetic ‘pick me ups’ Dr JJ very candidly shared. Botox, fillers, IPL, dermage, etc.
- Better to save money for good skincare items that work, than to spend on cheap/pariah products that might harm your skin. Eg: Cheong shades make your pupils open wider (that’s what it does when there is lesser light) and allows more harmful UV rays in because cheong shades dont offer protection. Very Bad for your eyes!
- There are products that plump up your lips because they too suffer the effects of ageing. I thought only eyes and cheeks require care and attention.
- Diana shared that applying moisturiser to your tummy, butt and thigh and breasts are A MUST THE MOMENT you are pregnant. The experts too agree that this is very effective in preventing stretch marks because prevention is always better than cure. From stretch marks to wrinkles and dark spots.
- Diana also shared that a few weeks ago, she learnt that even with just a makeup base on, one must ALWAYS use a makeup remover before cleansing.
- If you have a whole lot of creams (anti ageing/lifting/whitening/firming/softening/hydrating/SPF) to apply everyday,  you can put them all on your hand and apply it at one go instead of doing them individually. Dr JJ says it’s ok to mix ‘em up!
- IPL treatments vary in price and it’s important to find a trustworthy place because you can get burnt if it’s not applied professionally. On the Face.
- My personal ‘routine’ when I have consecutive long days, is a mud mask to remove impurities, and a hydrating mask to replace moisture. Drink lotsa water!

Alot more ground was covered but these are the bits I remembered thought important. I don’t have any pics from the event cos they’re o my manager’s cam, but here’s one I got on my phone for twitter :)
